Discover Scuba Diving
1½
to 2 hours, Mon - Sat (lagoon/pool)
Offered to mature guests 10 years and
older.
Discover Scuba Diving is an academic and confined water session designed to allow guests to participate in a resort property activity which is fun, exciting, informative and inexpensive. After completion of the required liability release and medical questionnaire, guests are presented with a 20-30 minute academic briefing on scuba-related physics, safety rules, equipment and generality. Guests are suited up and for some, experience the awe and adventure of breathing underwater for the first time. During this training the instructor can prepare non-certified guests for ocean diving,
refresh and up-date certified divers or provide a fun and safe diving experience. Training is customized to each guest's needs and desires. After completion of the academic presentation and initial underwater experience guests are instructed on basic scuba technique and skills; regulator recovery & clear, mask clearing, alternate air source use, buoyancy control, finning technique, hand signals, monitoring air and extended swim/fun time. Upon completion of this training, guests may apply the cost towards the ocean diving price. Our instructors will also sign and up-date log books.
*Non-certified guests may participate in ocean diving activities under the supervision of a PADI scuba instructor after completing the Discover Scuba Diving lesson. However, the Discover Scuba Diving lesson is not a certification course. Credit toward the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification is available at any PADI facility with a valid DSD participant card. Credit for certification is valid for 1 year.
For your safety and enjoyment, we require all participants to read and sign the PADI Medical Questionnaire form prior to diving (Please click on the Download button below).
The document below is in Adobe Acrobat (or .pdf) format. If you do not currently have the Acrobat Reader (which you will need to view or print these files), you can click here and download it for free...
Medical Questionnaire - Scuba diving is an exciting and demanding activity
that does involve breathing compressed air and physical exercise. The only requirements are that
you need to be over 10 years old and in good medical health. The purpose of the Medical Questionnaire
is to find out if your doctor should examine you before you can participate in a recreational scuba
dive training program. A YES response to a question does not necessarily disqualify you from
diving. A YES response means there is a preexisting condition that may affect your safety
while diving and you must seek the advice of your doctor prior to engaging in diving activities.
If you have any questions please call our office at (877) 348-3669 or send us an email
email@manadivers.com
so we can assist you to go diving.
Introductory dives Daily (weather permitting)
Offered to mature guests 10 years and older
Guests who do not require the DSD lagoon lesson are charged $75.00. For non-certified guests to be able to participate in ocean diving they must complete the DSD lagoon/pool session, possess a valid DSD participant card or have proof of
1 logged dive. Please Note: DSD training can be completed ocean side in some circumstances; check with your instructor. Guests enjoy the same experience as our eco-informed tours provide with few limitations: maximum depth 40 feet (average 20 feet) no caves or over head situations with a max of 4 divers per instructor.
Refresher dives
Daily (weather permitting)
Offered to certified guests who need a brush up or have not had the opportunity to dive recently.
Includes lagoon lesson and ocean dive. Guests must have proof of certification. Lagoon training is similar to our DSD session and is usually scheduled at the same time. Update training will be tailored to each guest's needs. Skills reviewed are listed under our DSD lesson; additional skill training may be introduced at the instructor's discretion. The refresher lagoon session is followed up with an eco-informed guided ocean dive. We highly recommend this program to divers who haven't dove in 2 years or more.
Eco-informed Guided Ocean Dives
Daily (weather permitting)
Divers are scheduled in small groups of equal skill level or in family groups. Our dive briefings include extensive information on Hawaiian marine life, history and topography of the site, Hawaiian legends and safety considerations. Mana's PADI instructors guide divers in and around our pristine reefs with the utmost commitment to diver safety and education. We use state of the art equipment and our instructors are current PADI licensed professionals who are personable and entertaining. We choose dive sites depending on diver skill level, requests and weather. Divers find our tours very flexible with choices of one or two tank dives, Refresher dives and Night dives.
PADI Instruction Courses
Daily (weather permitting)
PADI - Professional Association of Diving Instructors, is the largest scuba certification organization in the world. Approximately 7 out of 10 North American divers are certified by PADI, and approximately 55 percent of all divers worldwide are certified by PADI.
Mana Divers offers the following PADI courses: Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Instructor
and 17 Specialty Courses
including Enriched
Air
(EANx), Cavern
and DPV
plus many others. All PADI programs are performance based. Most courses require 2 to 3 days to complete Students are encouraged to begin home study before arriving on vacation. Independent study enhances schedule flexibility and allows candidates to arrive better prepared for their course. The program's structure and educational materials encourage greater interaction - less talk, more action. A deposit of $75.00 enables us to mail student materials and begin correspondence to prepare for their course.
Scuba Diver This dive course is a pre-entry level certification that is perfect for vacationers or people who only plan to dive a couple times a year. As a subprogram of the PADI Open Water Diver course, the PADI Scuba Diver rating allows you to get certified quickly and easily by minimizing time constraints. With the PADI Scuba Diver certification you can dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Instructor or higher professional on your next vacation or dive trip.
Open Water Diver course is the most popular dive program in the world requiring approximately 25-30 hours. Students should allow 3 to 4 days to complete. The course includes 5 knowledge development sessions, 5 shallow water practice sessions and 4 open water ocean dives with all scuba equipment included.
Advanced Open Water Diver course requires 5 dives that can be completed in as little as 2 days. This course is an excellent way for a certified diver who is 15 years and older to learn and continue to develop additional dive skills plus be more confident in and around the water.
Rescue Diver course will expand your knowledge and experience level. Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.
A sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months
is required for certification.
Divemaster course is designed to develop your leadership abilities to a professional level. Working closely with your PADI Instructor, you'll expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills as you become a dive professional. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.
The
Divemaster course can expand your capabilities and make you a better diver.
